For Mathematicians: Research Papers
The mathematics behind the book appears in three primary articles:
- Corazza, P., The Axiom Of Infinity And Transformations
j: V --> V, Bulletin of Symbolic Logic, Vol 16, No. 1, 2010, pp. 37-84. [This paper shows how the seed for the Wholeness Axiom is already present in the Axiom of Infinity.]
- Corazza, P.,
The Spectrum of Elementary Embeddings
j: V --> V, Annals Of Pure And Applied Logic, vol. 139, May 2006, pp. 327-399. [This paper shows that axioms of the form "there exists an elementary embedding j: V --> V" having various additional properties form a hiearchy of axioms parallel to the large cardinal axioms, with inconsistency arising as an extreme special case.]
- Corazza, P., The Wholeness Axiom and Laver Sequences, Annals Of Pure And Applied Logic, October, 2000, pp. 157-260. [This paper introduces the Wholeness Axiom, showing how its formulation averts the Kunen inconsistency but remains strong enough to imply the existence of virtually all known large cardinals. It also shows a natural connection to Laver sequences, whose study in this context is motivated by the dynamics suggested by the ancient texts.]
